Nachni | Jowar | Bajra

Nachni or Ragi, Jowar or Sorghum, Bajra or Pearl Millet collectively belong to family of grains called Millet. Traditionally, millet was poor man's food but of late it has gain importance due to its health benefits. Ragi is the common name of Finger Millet in Southern part of India (and known as nachni in the northern part of India). Along with oats this is one of the most nutritious food and one of the easy one to to digest. Jowar is the Indian name of sorghum,a cereal grain native to Africa. Jowar is a gluten-free, high-protein, cholesterol-free source of a variety of essential nutrients, including dietary fiber, iron, phosphorus and thiamine. Millets are a great source of starch, making it a high energy food. It is also an excellent source of protein and fiber. It is said that the amino acids in pearl millet are more easily digestible than the ones found in wheat.
